Oct. 18th, 2012 11:56 pmThe sudden appearance of people was almost as startling as the zombie that'd jumped out at her. One minute they were getting attacked, the next it was completely over. Things were as they should be, how they were the day before all the things about the city changed. For a second, she actually thought she might be seeing things.
Those same people that were staring at them as they made their way down the dark street toward the apartment building they both lived in. The kind of attention they were getting wasn't really surprising, to be honest - her dress was smeared with blood from the walker that she'd hit and stopped with the hammer she was still clutching and Jesse was in a similar disheveled state. Neither talked much, though she eventually took his hand as she walked with him. Even though it looked like everything was how it should be, she half expected something to come after them again any moment. She protected herself, she did it on her own even when she didn't think she could, but she never wanted to do that again.
He didn't leave her when they got to where they were going. In fact, he took her all the way to the apartment she shared with Andrea. She didn't have her things anymore, so she had to knock on the door instead of just going in with her key. She felt her stomach twist and turn as they waited, the thought that Andrea might not to be back even if everything else was normal making her anxious.
She didn't know what she'd do if she hadn't come back like everyone else did.
